Screening of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Movie facing hurdles in dravidian ruled Tamil Nadu.

Nallakannu for screening of ‘Dr. Ambedkar'

Veteran Communist Party of India leader R. Nallakannu, who does not usually go to cinema halls, spent nearly three hours at a Palayamkottai theatre on Saturday morning and enjoyed the movie, ‘Dr. Ambedkar,' screened on behalf of ‘Tamiraparani Panpaattu Arangam' amid a lot of hurdles created by some political parties and organisations affiliated to them.

Mr. Nallakannu appealed to the State government to extend tax exemption to the movie dubbed in Tamil so that it would have a wider reach.“The movie that portrays Dr. Ambedkar as a social thinker, revolutionist and a national leader should be screened in schools and colleges so that the younger generation can know about the social reformation that took place in the country over the years and also about leaders who dedicated their life for achieving such a remarkable change,” said Mr. Nallakannu.

The ‘Tamirabharani Panpaattu Arangam' has made arrangements for screening of this movie at Senthilvel Theatre on January 8 and 9.

Amid a lot of problems created by a particular group, its volunteers are selling the tickets for Rs. 20, Rs. 25 and Rs. 30.

Political dignitaries such as Tirunelveli City district secretary of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam K.M.A. Nizam have come forward to sponsor shows.

Former Minister Nainar Nagendran, Mr. Nizam, orthopaedic surgeon S. Ramaguru, former Head, Department of Tamil Studies, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tho. Paramasivan, director of ‘Vaan Muhil' and coordinator of ‘Tamirabharani Panpaattu Arangam' M.A. Britto, and T.T. Ramesh Raja were also present.
