another KHAIRLANJI in Uttar Pradesh..! Four members belonging to a Dalit family has been brutally murdered in Prayagraj by dominant Caste Hindus (Thakur) following a land dispute. Poonchand, his wife, daughter, and son has been hacked to death with an axe and killed while they were asleep. His daughter has been sexually assaulted and killed allegedly by caste Hindu men as her clothes were disheveled. There is a clear nexus between the police and Caste Hindus which resulted in the killing of a Dalit family as the police refused to file an FIR on earlier complaints by the deceased over verbal and physical threats by the caste Hindu landlords over the land dispute. This reminds us of the KHAIRLANJI MASSACRE of Maharashtra in 2006 where a Dalit family had been brutally killed over a land dispute, and the state and its machineries allied to make sure that there is no justice delivered. Discrimination against Dalits has increased since Yogi came to power in UP. We, Ambedkar Students' Association, strongly condemn the killing of the Dalit family, the criminal negligence of the police, and the police-caste Hindu nexus in the incident. We demand that the government punish the culprits as per the rule of law
